La Morra: a jewel of the Piedmontese Langhe

We are in an enchanting village located in the heart of the Langhe, a Piedmont region famous for its breathtaking landscapes, fine vineyards and a rich food and wine tradition. This picturesque village, perched on a scenic hill, offers visitors a unique experience, combining history, culture and culinary delights.

To discover the beauties of La Morra, whose history dates back to Roman times, just walk through the streets of the center and come across numerous fragments of history, such as the bell tower built with the remains of the castle demolished in 1544, from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of the surrounding hills and the numerous vineyards that produce the famous Barolo.

Not far away you will find the Municipal Cellar, built in 1973 by the winemakers of La Morra and created in the eighteenth-century rooms of the palace of the Marquises of Barolo. A few steps away, the church of the Confraternity of S. Rocco (1749), the Town Hall building (façade from 1765) and the church of the Confraternity of S. Sebastiano (1700), to then admire, on the southern side of the town, the Bastions, medieval city walls.

La Morra is surrounded by a unique hilly landscape, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The paths that wind through the vineyards are ideal for walking and trekking, offering panoramic views that will leave you breathless. For lovers of wine and good food, La Morra is an essential stop. Here, the passionately cultivated vineyards produce some of the most renowned wines in the world, such as Barolo and Nebbiolo. You will be able to visit local cellars, participate in guided tastings and discover the secrets of Piedmontese viticulture. The restaurants in the village offer traditional local dishes, prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients, accompanied by the best Langhe wines.

La Morra's calendar is full of events that celebrate local traditions. Among these, the Truffle Fair, which attracts visitors from all over the world, and the Harvest Festival, a joyful occasion to discover the rhythms and rites of grape harvesting. Throughout the year, the village hosts markets, concerts and cultural events that enliven its streets and squares.

A whole world around…

Nearby, not to be missed, you will find the small church of S. Brigida with apse frescoes from the century. XV, dedicated to Brigida of Sweden, widow, remembered every year by a celebration involving all the inhabitants of the village. Once you have finished your journey inside the town, you shouldn't miss a walk along the paths that wind through the countryside surrounding La Morra. In particular, unmissable is path no. 5 which, starting near Villa “Goccia di Vino”, runs alongside the small church of S. Brigida and then dives into the vineyards.
